Serene Buddha with Ushnisha has been touched with bronze studio paint to share the golden light of the wood and companion details. The Buddha is elevated atop a segment of storm fallen English walnut, the squared edges lightly rounded and embellished with softly colored old glass, clay, metal and stone beads. A hammered, hand painted and etched brass cup with a design from an ancient textile fragment has developed natural patina and is fitted with an insert to hold incense sticks or skinny candles, The wooden slice of English walnut intrigues… just beneath the gnarly surface lies color, pattern and markings, nature’s secret language written in symbols. The long, organic, flowing section of wood is sanded silky smooth but mindful of preserving its very distinctive characteristics, the live outer edge of texture, markings, crevices and weathering.  The colors of dawn, serene beauty soft and sure, a mediation just to gaze, a place to gather your sacred objects and crystals, your altar.
