An antique bronze Buddha Amitayus is joined with intriguingly beautiful salvaged English walnut from a storm fallen tree. The Buddha Amitayus, Sanskrit meaning “Infinite Life,” is seated in meditation and holds the vase of amrta, the ambrosia of immortality. The Buddha’s patina…. brown, with putty beige and green traces is in harmony with  this wood… just beneath the gnarly surface lies color, pattern and markings, nature’s secret language written in symbols. The long, organic, flowing section of wood is sanded smooth but mindful of preserving its distinctive characteristics, Buddha’s elevation and two feet are crafted from the same wood. Two hand painted, hand etched and hammered disks hold crystals, stones, incense sticks, cones or skinny beeswax monastery candles. Serene, soft earthy colors.
