Vitarka Mudra is the gesture of discussion, debate, ideas and teachings of the Buddha. The hand gesture that induces the energy of the spiritual principles, sometimes transmitted without words. The Buddha of bronzed copper sits serenely on a slice of “hurricane wood,” salvaged from the incredible tangle of fallen trees on our property after Hurricane Sandy in 2012. This section chosen for the energy and flow, a slow motion waterfall anchoring roots into the ground. A hand cut, hammered, painted and blackened copper cup with a design from antiquity and a copper insert hold incense or our imported handmade beeswax monastery candles.
